The new SnowMirror Backup software for ServiceNow is now available as part of the SnowMirror 6 release. SnowMirror Backup has a focus on a crucial real-world use case: To protect your company’s mission-critical ServiceNow data by replicating it to your own infrastructure.

ServiceNow data is vital to your organization, and as the single system of record it contains valuable business critical data that should be backed up daily. It should also be easy to restore in case of data loss. While ServiceNow does a great job to ensure that the data is secure and that instances run with high availability, with environments backed up every day to cover critical errors or major data loss, the restore procedure takes several days and it recovers the instance as a whole, so there is no partial restoration.

With SnowMirror Backup, you can back up individual tables from your ServiceNow cloud instance onto a file system in your data center. The backups can be stored in one of the default ServiceNow formats (XML and CSV) to be prepared for sudden data losses or alterations. Full and incremental backups can be scheduled, and backup retention can be configured to be in line with your corporate policies.

SnowMirror Backup also provides a solution to a common challenge in ServiceNow: Exceeding ServiceNow’s export limit settings. With SnowMirror Backup, you can export any number of rows from any of the database tables in ServiceNow. It’s your ServiceNow data and your strategy.

In addition, SnowMirror Backup can enable the transfer of ServiceNow data between production and sub-production instances. Selected tables in the sub-production instances can be restored from the production instance. There’s no need to clone the whole instance if you only need a couple of tables to perform test or development tasks.
